New Year Brings A New Leader

December 31, 2009

by spacepug

As of the new year, the 13th Colony will have a new leader at the helm.  I’d like to introduce Keegan, the poor sucker brave soul who’s agreed to take over the leadership duties for Canada’s largest Battlestar Galactica fan club.  He’s got some great ideas about where to take the club for the New Year, particularly with the launch of BSG’s prequel series, “Caprica” coming on January 22nd.  I have great confidence in Keegan, and hope he enjoys leading 13th Colony as much as I have over the last three years.

I’m not disappearing entirely.  I’ll still be posting to the blog, and I’ll still be part of the crowd at Vancouver’s BSG club events, but I won’t be front and centre as “Madam President” anymore.   The last official duty I have to do before handing over the title to Keegan is to thank all of the BSG fans from all over the world who’ve made this experience so rewarding.  I never expected that by creating this little club in an effort to find other people who enjoyed my favourite show, I would get to meet people, in person and online, from so many different places, and watch the growth of a new community of science fiction fans in my home city.  I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and I’m looking forward to watching where 13th Colony goes from here.

Good Hunting Keegan!

Happy Holidays from 13th Colony

December 16, 2009

Frik and Frak have had a little trouble agreeing on how to do their Christmas cards this year.  Frik thinks “By Your Command” isn’t a cheery enough greeting, and Frak can’t figure out how to sign his name with his cannons and not obliterate the whole card in the process.  Now we know the real reason Battlestar Galactica never had a Christmas episode.

Happy Holidays to BSG fans around the globe.

If Cylons and Humans can live together, perhaps in 2010 we can move one step closer to Peace on Earth. ~ spacepug
