BSG on Location for the Finale

It’s an exciting time to be a member of the 13th Colony, but also, quite frankly, nerve-wracking. I don’t want to know how it ends until I see the last episode as it airs on TV. I know that means I have to be diligent for the next six months (or more) to avoid spoilers. Today, a friend sent pictures from today’s Battlestar Galactica location shoot. With just one more week scheduled for shooting, these pictures represent filming of the series finale.
So, I’m going to pass along a few. Spoilers are minor, but intriguing. And since people are sensitive about such things, they are hidden behind a cut.
They’re shooting new material set on Caprica. Past, present or future — unknown. The first picture is a shot from the 2003 miniseries, setting up the market on Caprica where Six kills the baby. It is also the same location featured in “Epiphanies” where Laura takes a walk to talk about the teacher’s strike. Note the rock and spheres in the water, which are not normally present. The picture below it is from today’s shoot at the reflecting pool in the Academic Quadrangle at Simon Fraser University.
Laura is at the pool once again, and she isn’t wearing a very presidential outfit. It’s a low cut one piece jumper with cropped pants, with a long, light jacket. She is barefoot.
For some reason, there are several futuristic baby carriages. Three in different colours on set. No visible babies, but since shooting with infants is problematic, they could be inserted digitally later. There were several children among the background performers.

Interesting that Mary is in costume and she has her own hair free.. Another dream sequence maybe?
The Cylons are always going on about “this has all happened before and it will happen again,” so then the series should end with the beginning and close the circle. We never did see who Six was meeting after she sent Baltar on his merry way at that market during the miniseries before the Cylon attack. If it’s Roslin Six was meeting, then she would be the Fifth, eh? But more likely it’s a Roslin dream sequence they were shooting. Or, they are hopefully filming alternate endings so they can throw off the spoiler hunters, and Roslin’s being there may not factor into the end at all.

I have nothing insightful to say about the meaning of the photos but I will say I love the futuristic storlers!
This is a great sign to me. It shows there is at least some attempt to link the end of the story to the beginning. It is after all a cyclic story and universe. Plus, this will make it easier for use BSG fans to part with BSG, not wondering what will happen, but knowing that this is where the cycle starts over, and we already know what will happen, as we’ve seen it all happen already. That is my biggest hope, that they will complete this circle in a way that leaves very few unanswered questions, just enough to keep us fascinated and in awe, but not too many so that we scratch our heads and say “that’s it? What about…”
Perhaps the few remaining unanswered questions you speak of will eventually be answered in the Caprica series?
Interesting! Three baby carriages – three cylon/human hybrids.
All of this has happened before, it will happen again. So, did the 13th colony build their own cylons? Did they rebel? Did the survivors flee and actually start the 12 Colonies, beginning with Caprica?
One thing I find intriguing is that there is no mention in the series of the Graystone family, the creators of the Cylons. Where do they fit in?

West Vancouver filming location? July 9th 2008 – I spotted a new-looking BSG film location sign off the upper level highways (21st street exit) in West Vancouver this afternoon … does anyone know of a location shoot being planned for up there?
